Spoiler Free Zone - Breaking Dawn

Ok, so I've had 3 of my friends tell me they can't read my blog because I'm posting spoilers. I DON'T want that!!!!!

What I've decided to is to have this one post where I will comment on all the things that I am thinking about. That way you can look at it if you want to, and you have no risk of spoiling the book for yourself just by checking out the other posts on my blog.. phew. So, if your not interested in checking out my thoughts on what I am reading until you've finished the book yourself... DO NOT READ THE COMMENTS FOR THIS POST!!

My first post will contain my previous comments on the last post, and I will continue from there.

If you have already read the book, then this will be a great place for you to come make some comments and we can discuss it together.

This was originally posted on August 2nd:

Today I picked up my copy of Breaking Dawn. I have decided to do a sort of play by play and post blog comments every once in a while as I read through.

I'm on page 36, and I am already suspecting that one of the main themes is going to be that there is some crazy way that Edward and Bella are going to have a child. I'm not really sure how that is going to happen yet, but I will keep you posted.

Ok, so I did really great about not reading on the Sabbath... that was really hard. I think it helped that it was fast Sunday and I was really trying to put a lot of effort into my fast.

Anyway, so, my prediction of Bella getting pregnant was right on. Though, I wasn't exactly sure how it was possible, though it was simpler than I thought it would be... ha!

I figured it out as soon as she was tired all the time and eating the 2 helpings of food that Edward was fixing while they were on their Honeymoon.

On saturday night, I got to this part where it turned completely to Jacob's point of view. I had a hard time with this when it was like this in the other books, and not just when it was in His point of view, but Eclipse was not my favorite.

I couldn't sleep last night, and about 1245, (technically not Sunday, Right?), I picked up BD again. Part of me actually did not want to read. Reading through Jake's mind and behavior is drudgery.

In case you can't tell, I'm an Edward fan. Part of this is because I think Jake is a Jerk. I can understand that a lot of it is because he is hurt because of Bella's choice, but I think even without the whole Bella thing, he would rub me the wrong way as a person.

Also, the relationship between Bella and Edward reminds me a lot of the relationship between Steve and I. I think about it often, but it's hard to explain. I will ponder it a little more and make a seperate post about it later.

Anyway, I am pushing through the Jacob Drama.

I am really frustrated with Edwards behavior towards the baby. I hate his whole "I'm a MONSTER" complex. It's really making him look more like a monster simply because he hates the creature inside Bella.

Also, I'm agitated with Bella and her martyrdom... usually it doesn't get to me. My thoughts are that I think that Meyer was not writing as good as she usually does because she was trying to get the book out quickley. From Jake's point of view... things seem a little choppy.

Ok, so, when this whole thing broke out about the Pack wanting to go Kill Bella and Jake was switching to the side of "I'm think it's wrong to kill the bloodsuckers", I knew it was only a matter of time that his Alpha Male Heritage was going to bust out and defy Sam. It took place a few pages after that. I like how that's playing out.

I'm beginning to get frustrated with how predicatable this book is. It's not really hindering my enjoyment, but I just think it could have been written a bit better. Again... I think Meyer was Hastey.

So, when I realized that Carlisle was talking about finding out what the Baby needed because it was sucking the life out of Bella, I knew it was going to go down the road of Bella needing to ingest blood for it and her to survive the pregnancy.

Earlier, I was interested to see what had been posted on Wikipedia about Renesmme, (in case you didn't notice, the childs name is listed in the back of the book as part of the Cullen Coven. Ok, so I didn't really read it, but I did skim down and read a sentence that mentioned that Jake and Renesmee race a bit. After I read this, it occured to me that it could be possible that Jake is going to imprint on her.

Well, on page 296, before the child is even born, Bella is talking about how she feels complete when Jake is around, like the whole family is there. And she talks about how there is a special bond there.

So, I'm pretty sure that Jake is going to imprint on Bellas's child when she is born.

At the end of one of the chapters, Jake eludes to the fact that he thinks Rosalie knows how to get the baby out of Bella. I don't really understand what he means... but I don't think it's something good.

I'm sooooo ready for this book to change back to Bella's point of view.

Hey... So have you finished yet. I enjoyed it. I always try not to read into any of it. That's the one thing about this series. I was able to read it and just enjoy. I loved the ending. It was GREAT!!!!

Hey... I started thinking about the jake thing.. I know how much I could not stand him because he was so angry and jealous. This book helped me understand him more and helped me appreciate what he was doing all along. I think his feelings blinded him to everything. He wanted to protect her so much that he couldn't see what was around him.

There we go... Jacob imprinted on Nellie.

I was really surprised by Bella reaction... it was so hillarious to see how over protective she was when she found out. I love that she is calling Jake Mutt and Dog. Very endearing!

I'm so relieved that the book has switched back to Bella's point of view.

It seems strange to me how this part of the book is written so much better (might just be in my head). I absolutely love Bella as a vampire. The past 3 or 4 chapters have ended so well, I keep thinking when I get to the end of them, that it will be the end of the book. It's just so perfect. It surprises me when I realize there is still a bit a ways to go... thank goodness.

I'm sure the Volturi is going to pop up here soon.

I was really surprised how the whole Charlie thing worked out. I was not expecting that at all. Definately feeling relieved for Bella now that Charlie sort of "knows" what's going on. I'm glad that he is not cast off never to see Bells again.

I really like Bella as a Vampire. She comments at the end of one of the chapters, "I was born to be a Vampire", or something like that.

She seems a lot more mature as a vampire. I do like that her basic characteristics have not changed ie: her lack of interest in designer clothes, not liking surprises.

I love to see the Vampire perspective... it's way cool. And it's great to see the bond between her and Edward really seal. I was not looking forward to the year of "getting used to" being a vampire. I'm glad that she is pretty much skipping it altogether.

There has been a lot going on in the book, but not much that I really want to comment on. I wish that this wasn't the last book.

I do need to say that I'm really sad that Alice has left. She is my favorite character.

CM Stephensen said...

I just want to say that I LOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEE the fact that Bella and Edward were made and meant for each other. And Jacob imprinting on Nellie proves that even more...
so there Jacob fans!!!

Hey Christy...
just so you know, it's Nessie.

:)

CM Stephensen said...

Ha!! I knew that... Nessie.. I knew that (snicker)

I keep getting confused for some reason

CM Stephensen said...

So, I finished the book yesterday...

Probably my favorite out of the 4. The ending was great.

Though, I'm walking around feeling really sad that the story is over now. I wish there was more!!!

I keep thinking about this book. I really enjoyed it, and I'm very sad that this story is over. I want to read more... more about Jake and Nessie later would be way cool.

I have to say... Way to go ALICE for coming to the rescue!!! I was really sad when she left. I'm sorry.. Alice is my favorite character in the saga. I think it's because she is so dang cool and the bestest freind a person could ever have. I think if I rolled all my Best Friends into one, they would make Alice. Any way, I'm glad I have lots of semi-Alice's in my life... I love my BFF's!!

Ok - I finished the book yesterday. Then I had to get the finishing touches on Primary. Now I have a moment to comment. I liked the book for the most part. I certainly felt it could have been two books or even some of it in the last book. I would have liked to know more of why Bella was able to jump past the "newborn" atributes. I wanted it to have something to do with the baby preparing her body, or the fact that she drank all that blood before the baby was born. I felt this idea of why she skipped that phase was skipped itself. I know the Cullens talked about this being her gift, but that was just not satisfying once the shield gift was truely discoverd. Maybe the shield had something to do with it. I just would have liked more. I was also glad to see Bella start to refer to the baby as Nessie. I was not happy with the Renesmee name.
