The Next Book

I've finished The Host... which was a pretty good read. But now I don't know what to read next. Late last year I had started reading the Twiligh series again, but got sidetracked after the 2nd book. So, I thought that I would start Eclipse last night, but as I started to read, I just felt burned out of reading books I've already read. I was looking at my bookcases last night trying to find something I havn't read yet... the only thing I saw was To Kill A Mockingbird.... :( The past few days my eyes and head have started hurting because I've been reading so much... I think I need a break (but I don't want to take one).

The three books I want to read right now don't start coming out till August or so.

Did you know 8's are unlucky?

At least, that's what Steve says... particulary black 8's. (he's says it's only in cards though).

We played some hand and foot this evening, one of my favorite card games. Steve usually beats the socks off me. There were a few times when were playing in AZ where grandma and I quit in the 2nd or 3rd round because Steve was winning in such a ridiculous manner. Well... tonight, I was winning modestly... but Steve was so frustrated about the cards he kept drawing that he quit after the 3rd round. It was very funny! He blames it on the unlucky canasta of 8's he put together in the first round.

The Next Book

the next book that I will be reading is The Host by Stephanie Meyer.

Harry Potter

I've been working on reading the Harry Potter series from beginning to end since December. I finally finished the last book this evening. Originally the 5th book was my favorite, but I have now changed my mind. My favorite is the 7th.

A scripture of the month

I have recently been thinking about highlighting a scripture each month. I'm going to choose from verses that I love, have recently impressed or inspired me, or even recommendations if anyone would care to offer a favorite verse.

I had thought originally to do this every week, but have since decided that it would be way too often and would never get changed every week... so once a month!

Book of Mormon Reading Challenge

Our Home Teacher was here today and extended to us a challenge to read the Book of Mormon by the end of the year. I am very excited about it! So, I went online and found a nice BOM reading chart so I can keep track of my progress in a sort of fun way.

I'm going to go start at the beginning right now!

Family History

There is a new scanner out by Kodak that scans your photo's incredibly fast and with superb quality. The scanner is being implemented as a tool for Heritage Makers Consultants to build their business. I was able to spend a small amount of time using one of these scanners to copy a few photo books that Steve's grandma Loraine had put together.

The first book was about Mont Stephensen, a great uncle of Steve's and the second was about Ladd Stephensen, another great uncle.

It was amazing to go through these pictures. My friend Julie and I were so amazed that we were able look at every picture as we scanned them... such history!

Mont was a fighter pilot in WWII and was shot down on his 90th mission (i think it was the 90th) in Germany.

I am planning on making books from the things that I have copied. I'm looking forward to the experience.

Back From Phoenix

Our trip to Phoenix was really great, though its really wonderful to be home again... especially to sleep in our own bed.

The Heritage Makers meetings I had throughout the week were motivating and informative. I've set some goals for my business and I'm looking forward to accomplishing them over the summer.

It was great to spend so much time with our family. The Tower of Power concert turned out to be really entertaining

Headin to Phoenix

Tomorrow morning, Steve and I will be headin off to Phoenix, AZ. It's a bit of a two-fold trip: One - I will be attending a Heritage Makers Regional conference, Two - We will be visiting Steve's family.

We are both looking forward to this trip. We will be meeting Steve's sister's new boyfriend. Also, Steve's dad has bought us all tickets to see Tower of Power (not sure about how exciting that is going to be yet... we shall see). So, there will be 8 of us going to the concert I think.

I'm really excited about eating great food with wonderful family and spending lots of time playing games with Grandma Stephensen!!

www.webster.com

Steve frequently calls me a hussy! I don't really like it, though he uses it playfully. So, since we were both sitting here at our computer desk, I decided to look up hussy on webster.com. Well, that led to us looking up other words such as Saucy, Impudent, Minion, and Asinine.

Any way... being a hussy isn't all that bad... as long as you are referring to the 2nd definition on webster.com.

Discharged

The only thing in the mailbox today was a manilla envelope from the Department of the Army. Steve received his Certificate of Honorable Discharge in this envelope.

Anniversary Day

Today has been a great day. I've been looking forward to this day for months now. Particularly the past week because we have been eating well now that Steve is home. So, today was splurge on bad food day.

Last night, Steve told me what the plan was. We would be going out to lunch any where I wanted to go. I chose to go to Olive Garden where we both had soup, salad, and breadsticks (and a shirley temple). The next part of the plan was to go play some minature golf, so we headed over to the Grand Sierra. When we got there, I decided to hit golf balls into the aqua range they have there... that was a lot of fun.

Then we drove up to Virginia City. We've been up there together before, but there were a few things we had not done. We had a pretty good time touring the mine and going in and out of a few of the stores. I love Virginia City because I can get chocolate covered strawberries there (I got 2). We also enjoyed some other snacks; ice cream, chocolate walnut fudge, salt water taffy, rock candy & razzles.

We hung out in VA for a few hours before heading back down to the valley to get ready for dinner. Steve made reservations at Bricks, a place I've been wanting to try since we moved here 3 years ago. It was great! Steve ordered one of the specials; Elk. It's yummy.

Today has been a good celebration day!

Anniversary!

Today is our 6th Anniversary. We will be celebrating tomorrow. I'm pretty excited about it. I can't tell you right now what we are doing because Steve is planning it, but I will let you know all about it on Tuesday!

New Storybook

I finished a new storybook yesterday. Check out a few of the front cover and a few of the pages...

you can click on them if you want to see them up close.

Stripeys!!

It is no secret that I love stripes!! Yesterday Steve and I were at REI trying on some hiking shoes. Well... I can't help but wander off to the sock section when I'm there. I absolutely love SmartWool socks. And now.. they make SmartWools with Stripes! The package even says "You've loved our socks for hiking, skiing, and running... Now we have you covered for the rest of your life." Soooooo fabulous. So, I bought some stripey SmartWools yesterday... and yep, you guessed it..........

I'm wearing them RIGHT NOW!!!
